Dr Peter Helps studied Medicine at University College Hospital, London, qualifying in 1971. He worked in Accident and Emergency for 10 years prior to entering NHS general practice in Brighton and Hove in 1985; he retired from general practice in 2006.

He studied acupuncture at The London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, completing his training in Nanjing in 1992. His special interests are pregnancy-related disorders, women and children’s ailments, psycho-emotional disorders and palliative care. He has worked at Avicenna Centre for Chinese Medicine since 2000.
