DAY ONE:
(i) Introduction to Dermatology
The course will begin with an in-depth description of all primary and secondary lesions that may manifest on the skin (such as papules, pustules, lichenification, atrophy, scaling etc), and their meaning and significance according to Chinese medicine. Time will be devoted to the details of examination of the skin including significance of morphology and distribution.
(ii) Psoriasis (part I)
Psoriasis is one of the commonest and most stubborn diseases of the skin, affecting as many as 2% of the population. With a correct approach to treatment up to 65% of cases can be substantially helped with Chinese medicine.
In addition to the commonest variant, plaque psoriasis, other forms of psoriasis such as guttate, pustular and erythrodermic psoriasis will also be considered.

DAY THREE:
(i) Acne
Without doubt the commonest and most easily recognised of all skin disorders, acne affects almost everyone in their adolescent years. Not only the bane of teenagers however, acne often affects many in their 20's and 30's and frequently has a significant impact on self image. With the correct differentiation and treatment the vast majority of sufferers can be helped using Chinese medicine.

(ii) Perioral Dermatitis
A distinctive inflammatory eruption primarily affecting young women. It is characterised by pale red macular-papular eruption around the mouth, nose and eyes. As with acne this condition is very amenable to treatment, with the vast majority of cases resolving rapidly once a correct formula is prescribed.
