Natural Pain Clinic
The Natural Pain Control Clinic specialises in the treatment and management of any painful conditions primarily through the use of acupuncture and related therapies. Chinese Medicine describes the sensation of pain as an obstruction of the flow of qi or lifeforce. This can happen as a result of trauma, overuse of a limb, or due to more serious conditions such as cancer.
Acupuncture is eminently suitable to the treatment of pain as it is based on the concept of moving qi. One of its core sayings expresses this:
"When qi flows freely, there is no pain, when it is obstructed, there is pain."
The aim of acupuncture in this situation is to re-establish the smooth circulation of energy to reduce and eventually stop the pain.
Therapeutic Methods
An acupuncturist may use a variety of additional therapeutic methods including moxibustion (therapeutic use of heat by burning herbs), cupping, electro acupuncture, herbal compresses or massage.
Frequency of treatment
With both acutely painful and chronic conditions it may be most beneficial to the patient to be seen more often than just once a week. In order to achieve faster and more effective results the patient may initially require treatment every two or three days. We offer the use of a multiple bed treatment room accommodating several patients at once to make these sessions more practical and affordable. Of course, we also offer one to one consultations for those who prefer this option.
What you can expect
At the first consultation a detailed case history will be taken. Tongue and pulse diagnosis and a physical examination of the area affected form part of the consultation. The treatment usually lasts 20 - 30 minutes.
